Day 6: Powerline Pass

On Monday we went hiking on Powerline Pass, near Flattop in Chugach State Park, just East of Anchorage. Flattop is the most climbed mountain in the state and to reach it you have to stop at the parking lot. From the parking lot to the summit you can see a great panoramic view of Anchorage. Once we walked through the trees on the main trail we saw tall, green mountains and without all the city sounds. It was awesome to really connect with nature in the best way possible. It was an awesome experience to walk through the mountains and see how the mountains can change over the years and see what was in the same place thousands of years before today. One day I will go back and climb the mountains and see how Anchorage has changed from today. I had fun the day we went hiking at Flattop.

The weather around Flattop was really nice. Everyone was ready for this nice peaceful hike. Luckily it was just a trail, nothing too steep, just nice and easy. The sun was out and shining on us for guidance so everyone could have fun. I mostly kept taking pictures of the absolutely beautiful view of all the mountains around us. It didn't feel like that long of a hike, but it went by really fast. When everyone finally reached the bridge, we stayed so other students could catch their breath and enjoy the nice breeze next to the little stream. Kids kept dropping leaves to see whose would make it the farthest before it would get caught under the water. After everyone had gotten enough of all the beauty and had gotten done eating their snacks, we started heading back before the bus would leave us. Of course it wouldn't have left us, it just made people move faster, I guess. The way back felt longer than getting to the bridge.
