Braeten

Hello, my name is Braeten. I am 15 years old. I was born in Anchorage, Alaska.  I am Iñupiaq. Most of my family was born in the village of Kiana. Kiana is 30 miles north of the Arctic Circle and is 57 air miles east of Kotzebue. I played basketball when I was younger. I have been playing basketball since 2nd grade and then stopped in 7th grade. I enjoy watching basketball and football. The only reason why I stopped playing basketball was because I have gotten lazy in the past few years. I used to play video games way too much, but now I do not really play that much anymore.  I mostly played Call of Duty or Minecraft. What I want to do for the rest of my life after high school is to move to the village and learn my native heritage. In my opinion, Inupiaq is quite difficult. Another reason I want to move to the village is to help other family members and to do outdoor activities. Some outdoor activities are fishing, camping, hunting, riding four-wheelers and snow machines. Hunting is probably my favorite thing to do in the village. Egg, caribou, and seal hunting are my favorite to do. You can also hunt for beaver, fox, bear, moose, duck, geese, and wolf. Most of these are for fur and some are for food.
